ABOUT KOMBUCHA
WHAT IS KOMBUCHA?
Kombucha is a beverage produced from sweet tea with a culture of yeast and beneficial bacteria. Its use was first recorded in China in 221 BC during the Tsin Dynasty. They referred to the fermented tea as "the tea of immortality".
HOW IS IT MADE?
It’s made by combining tea, sugar and a living culture known as a “Mother” or “SCOBY” (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast). The SCOBY essentially eats the sugar and caffeine from the tea. The end result is a pure fermented Kombucha tea that is nearly sugar and caffeine free.
WHY DO WE DRINK IT?
What we can actually say here about the benefits of drinking Kombucha without getting in trouble with the FDA is very limited. Bummer, we know. But here’s what we can tell you:
1. Kombucha is a source of probiotics
2. Kombucha may provide the same health benefits as
green tea
3. Kombucha can kill bad bacteria
4. Kombucha contains antioxidants
